People all over the world use arts to encourage, restore, and bring hope to others experiencing trauma and serious disease. The purpose of this project is to bring shalom to individual sufferers of Huntington's Disease (HD) and the people who care for them through loving artistic creativity. In other words, Somebody Make Something for Someone! (I published an article in a music therapy journal that goes into the method in more depth. Read the full text at this link.)
As background, HD is a neurodegenerative genetic disorder that affects muscle coordination and leads to cognitive decline and psychiatric problems. It typically becomes noticeable in mid-adult life. HD is the most common genetic cause of abnormal involuntary writhing movements called chorea, which is why the disease used to be called Huntington's chorea.
